What We Believe
The following are the core beliefs of Assembly of Praise based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
GOD
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal. God is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. He is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. (Genesis 1:1,26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 9:6, 43:10-11; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Luke 1:35, 3:22; Hebrews 3:7-11)
JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is God manifest in human flesh. He is and was all God and all man. He was born of a virgin, crucified on a cross for our sins, and was resurrected on the third day, eternally defeating death and the grave for our sake. Upon resurrection, He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will return again in power and glory. (Luke 1:26-33, John 1:14, I Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-6; Hebrews 1:3; I Timothy 2:5)
SALVATION
Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers us a free gift: eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. Salvation comes by grace when we confess and believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone. BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST
The baptism of the Holy Ghost is the promise of the Father to all believers, sent by Jesus after His Ascension, to empower the Church to preach the Gospel throughout the whole earth. This baptism is subsequent to conversion, releases the fullness of the Spirit and is evidenced by the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit. (Joel 2:28-29, Matthew 3:11, Mark 16:17, Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1-4, Acts 2:38-39, Acts 8: 14-17, Acts 10:38, Acts 10:44-47, Acts 19:6, Romans 8:26-27)
GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is manifested by spiritual gifts that are meant to be used by believers to edify the body of Christ and demonstrate the realness and power of God. The gifts of the Spirit are always meant to be used to in harmony with the Scriptures and should never waver from their biblical implications. DIVINE HEALING
Healing was a crucial part of Jesus’ earthly ministry, as well as given in the commission to His disciples. Jesus provided us with healing, through His precious blood, when he died on the cross for us. Healing is also a gift of the Spirit. (Psalm 103:2-3; Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16-17; Mark 16:17-18; Acts 8:6-7; James 5:14-16; I Corinthians 12:9, 28; Romans 11:29)
THE CHURCH
The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. (Deuteronomy 15:11, Isaiah 6:8b, Romans 12:3-5, 1 Peter 4:10-11)
THE SECOND COMING
We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ, in which saints of the past will be resurrected and believers will be raptured. No man knows the day or the hour. This will usher in the fullness of God’s kingdom into the earth. (Matthew 24:30, 26:63-64; Acts 1:9-11; I Thessalonians 4:15-17; II Thessalonians 1:7-8; Revelation 1:7)
ETERNAL LIFE
As Christians, the scripture tells us that upon death, we are in the presence of the Lord. Eternal life is promised to followers of Jesus. At the Second Coming, believers bodies will be resurrected, just as Christ was resurrected. Just as believers are promised eternal life, non-believers will be judged by God and condemned to Hell to live eternally with the Devil and his fallen angels in a lake of fire. (Matthew 5:12, Matthew 6:20, Matthew 25:41, Mark 9:43-48, 1 Corinthians 16:51-57, II Corinthians 5:1)
WATER BAPTISM
Water baptism illustrates Christ’s burial and resurrection and provides an outward expression of new live in Christ as a Christian. The scripture instructs us to be baptized in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 8:12 36-38)
MARRIAGE
We believe marriage is defined, according to scripture, as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, ordained by God. (Genesis 2:24; Leviticus 18:22; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:31-33; Hebrews 13:4)
